Anote o número imediatamente menor no topo da tábua, e o resíduo na lateral. A célula comum dará Thoth, Sahami e Pharauardin em dias julianos. Proposto o ano corrente da *Periodus Iuliana* 6317, o número imediatamente menor de anos julianos na Tábua Nona é 5840, ao qual correspondem 5844 anos egípcios — guarde-os à parte. Subtraídos, portanto, 5840 anos julianos de 6317, restam 477 anos julianos. O número imediatamente menor no topo da Tábua do *lustrum* máximo Canicular é 476, restando um na lateral. CANON TWO.
Given the year of the *Periodus Iuliana*, to designate the Thoth of the Egyptians, the Sahami of the Armenians, and the Pharauardin of Iezdegird in Julian days.
From the proposed years of the *Periodus Iuliana*, subtract the next-lower number of Julian years from Table Nine. With the remainder, enter Table Eight of the great Canicular *lustrum*. Note the next-lower number at the top of the Table, and the remainder on the side. The common cell will give Thoth, Sahami, and Pharauardin in Julian days. Suppose the current year of the *Periodus Iuliana* is 6317; the next-lower number of Julian years in Table Nine is 5840, to which correspond 5844 Egyptian years — keep these aside. Subtracting therefore 5840 Julian years from 6317, there remain 477 Julian years. The next-lower number at the top of the Table of the great Canicular *lustrum* is 476, with one remaining on the side. In the common cell appears Thoth on 18 July, Sahami on 19 October, Pharauardin on 16 of the same month.

Given the year of the *Periodus Iuliana*, to know what year it is from Nabonassar, from the *epocha* of the Armenians, and from the *epocha* of Iezdegird.
Convert the proposed current Julian year into Egyptian time by the first [canon] of this [book]. From the current Egyptian year, as a perpetual rule, subtract 3968 Egyptian years for the *epocha* of Nabonassar, 5267 for the Armenian, 5347 for the Persian of Iezdegird. The remainders are the sought *epochae*. Let the current year of the *Periodus Iuliana* be proposed as 6317, which by the first [canon] is 6321 Egyptian. Subtracting the appropriate differences, as we noted, there remains the current year from Nabonassar 2353, from the Armenian *epocha* 1054, from the Persian *epocha* of Iezdegird 974.

To convert given Egyptian years into Julian.
In Table Nine see by how many years the next-lower Julian-year number is exceeded by the Egyptian. Let the current Egyptian year 6321 be proposed. The next-lower Julian number in Table Nine, 5840, is exceeded by the Egyptian by four years. Subtract these from the given Egyptian-year number. There remains the current Julian year 6317.
CANON FIVE.
Given the Egyptian years of the *epochae* of Nabonassar, of the Armenians, of Iezdegird, to designate the *neomeniae* of Thoth, Sahami, Pharauardin in Julian days.
To the given *epochae* add the numbers which you had subtracted in the third Canon. Convert the sum into Julian years by the preceding [canon]. From the Julian years subtract the next-lower Julian number from Table Nine. Operate as in the second Canon. Let the proposed *epochae* be: of Nabonassar, 2353 years; of the Armenians, 1054; of the Persians, 974. To which adding from the third Canon 3968, 5267, 5347, there arise 6321 current Egyptian years; which by the preceding canon become 6317 current Julian years. From these, by the second Canon, deducting 5840, there remain 477 of the great Julian Canicular *lustrum*. And accordingly, by the same Canon, Thoth 2321 [read 2353] coincides with 18 July, Sahami 1054 with 19 October, Pharauardin 974 with 16 of the same.
