DEFINIÇÕES.
I. *Differentia Tropica*, τὸ τροπικὸν διάφορον, é o excesso pelo qual o ano natural do Sol supera o juliano.
II. Προήγησις ἰσημερινὴ χρονική, precessão equinocial temporal, é o movimento do Sol em antecedência no contexto dos dias julianos, por causa da *differentia tropica*.
III. Προήγησις ἰσημερινὴ τοπική é o movimento do Sol em antecedência ao longo da linha eclíptica.
IV. *Annus Tropicus* é o retorno do Sol a partir do mesmo ponto dos equinócios, do solstício ou do solstício de inverno, ao mesmo ponto.
V. Os *Menses Caelestes* são as doze partes do *annus Tropicus*, descritas conforme os Dodecatemoria, isto é, os doze segmentos do Zodíaco.

CÂNON PRIMEIRO.
Encontrar o ano corrente do Mundo.
Do ano corrente da *Periodus Iuliana* subtrai 763. O ano presente da *Periodus Iuliana* é 6317; deduzidos 763, resta o ano do mundo 5554, começando no equinócio de outono. ALITER: Aos anos de Cristo acrescenta 3950 a partir do outono.
CÂNON SEGUNDO.
Encontrar o caractere de um dado ano do Mundo.
A segunda tabela está distinta por ternários, dos quais o terceiro número é assinalado pela figura ɑ — que são as *Tetracosieterides* reunidas. Portanto, subtrai dos anos do mundo propostos cada terceiro número proximamente menor. Com o resíduo, vai à primeira tabela: nela o número frontal proximamente menor, e o restante ao lado, na cela comum, dará o caractere do ano, ou seja, da *neomenia* dos Zygonos.

DEFINITIONS.
I. *Differentia Tropica*, τὸ τροπικὸν διάφορον, is the excess by which the natural solar year exceeds the Julian year.
II. Προήγησις ἰσημερινὴ χρονική, temporal equinoctial precession, is the motion of the Sun in antecedence within the sequence of Julian days, on account of the *differentia tropica*.
III. Προήγησις ἰσημερινὴ τοπική is the motion of the Sun in antecedence along the line of the ecliptic.
IV. The *Annus Tropicus* is the return of the Sun from the same point of the equinoxes, solstice or winter-solstice to the same point.
V. The *Menses Caelestes* are the twelve parts of the *annus Tropicus*, described according to the Dodecatemoria, that is, the twelve segments of the Zodiac.
VI. The *Annus Caelestis Tropicus civilis* is that which is laid out according to the XII *menses caelestes*.
VII. *Dies intercalaris*, ἡμέρα ἐπαγομένη, is the day which, arising from the collection of hours and the scrupular appendix of the *annus Tropicus*, accrues at the end of the fourth or fifth year.
VIII. The *Cyclus Solis Tropicus civilis* is the system of quaternaries of years which, when combined with the intercalary days, make up a septenary number.
IX. Ὑπόλειψις σεληναϊκή, the lag of the Moon, is the motion of the Sun in antecedence leaving the Moon behind, and anticipating its epocha by one day after several *enneadecaeterides*.
X. The *Character anni Tropici* is the remainder of the days of the *annus Tropicus*, after all septenaries of days have been deducted.
XI. The *Cyclus magnus* of ὑπόλειψις σεληναϊκή is a system of XII *Enneadecaeterides*, that is, of CCXXVIII years, the interval in which the Sun gets ahead of the Moon by one day and two hours.
XII. Ἐκβολή is the rejection of a month due to the anticipation of the equinoxes, removed beyond the old epocha.
XIII. Ἀνακατάστασις is the substitution of a month in place of the one which has been struck out.
FIRST CANON.
To find the current year of the World.
From the current year of the *Periodus Iuliana* subtract 763. The present year of the *Periodus Iuliana* is 6317; with 763 deducted, there remains the year of the world 5554, beginning at the autumnal equinox. ALITER: To the years of Christ add 3950 from autumn.
SECOND CANON.
To find the character of any given year of the World.
The second table is divided into ternaries, of which the third number is marked with the figure ɑ — these being the collected *Tetracosieterides*. Subtract therefore from the proposed year of the world each third number proximately smaller. With the remainder go to the first table: in it the frontal number proximately smaller, and the remainder at the side, in the common cell, will give the character of the year, or of the *neomenia* of the Zygonoi.

XI. Cyclus magnus ὑπολείψεως σεληναϊκῆς est systema Enneadecaeteridon XII, hoc est annorum CCXXVIII, quo intervallo Sol Lunam antevertit die uno, & horis duabus.
XII. Ἐκβολή est reiectio mensis per anticipationem aequinoctiorum extra veterem epocham summoti.
XIII. Ἀνακατάστασις est substitutio mensis in locum eius, qui expunctus est.
