ON THE MEMORABLE DEFEAT OF THE CARTHAGINIANS IN SICILY.
Memorable was that defeat which Timoleon inflicted upon the Carthaginians in Sicily. Diodorus Siculus fixes the time as the first year of the 110th Olympiad and the 21st year of Philip of Macedon. Plutarch, however, in his Camillus, states it to have been [Θαργηλιῶνος τὴν ἑβδόμην ἱσταμένου, Σκιρροφοριῶνος πρυτανείας ἐπὶ κατὰ δεκάτην] "on the seventh day of the waxing Thargelion, in the tenth day of the prytany of Skirophorion," in the 17th year of the fifth Metonic cycle.
