O primeiro ano do Templo de Salomão é o 480º que inicia a partir do Êxodo dos hebreus (1 Reis, cap. VI, 1). Era o ano do mundo 2932, qüinquagésimo segundo do vigésimo quinto Heled, ou do século hebraico. Pois do equinócio vernal do ano 764 do período juliano até o equinócio vernal do ano 3217 do mesmo, são precisamente 2453 anos. Mas se começarmos a contar os anos do mundo a partir do outono do ano 764, serão apenas 2452 anos e seis meses. Isto notamos para que ninguém pense haver erro. Pois de outro modo não pode ser. Portanto, visto que o ano em que o Templo foi iniciado é o quadringentésimo octogésimo desde o Êxodo, manifestamente ele era o ano do período 3696, como foi demonstrado por nós; e por isso era o ano do mundo corrente 2932 a partir do outono. From these things the learned reader may perceive how great is the utility of the doctrine of the Attic year, and how greatly those are mistaken who reduce the popular months of the Athenians to lunar reckonings, and for the most part place the neomenia of Hecatombaeon in June. ON THE FOUNDING OF SOLOMON'S TEMPLE
The first year of Solomon's Temple is the 480th beginning from the Exodus of the Hebrews (1 Kings, chap. VI, 1). It was the year of the world 2932, the fifty-second of the twenty-fifth Heled, or Hebrew century. The Epagomenon neomenia fell on October 9; the neomenia of Aethanim on October 14; the neomenia of Ziv on May 11, just as in the year before the Exodus. For 480 years are four complete Hebrew centuries. Hence the same neomeniae of the day-year existed at the time of the Temple's founding as had existed in the year of the world 2452, which preceded the year of the Exodus. Accordingly, since at the beginning of chapter VI of the first book of Kings the Temple's foundations are said to have been laid in the month of Ziv, this time falls in the month of May. But in the second book of Chronicles, chap. III, 1, it is noted as the second of Ziv, when the foundations were begun to be laid. And this time corresponds to the 12th of May, the sixth day of the week (Friday). It should be observed, however, that there are precisely 2453 years from the founding of the world to the Exodus, if we truly go back to the beginning of things. For from the vernal equinox of the year 764 of the Julian period to the vernal equinox of the year 3217 of the same, there are precisely 2453 years. But if we begin the years of the world from the autumn of the year 764, there will be only 2452 years and six months. We note this lest anyone suppose an error. For it cannot be otherwise. Since, therefore, the year in which the Temple was begun is the four hundred eightieth from the Exodus, it was manifestly the year of the period 3696, as has been demonstrated by us; and therefore it was the year of the world 2932 running from autumn. Thus from the beginning of things to the beginning of the Temple there are 2931 complete years and seven precise months. In these matters, therefore, one must proceed prudently,
