Vigiavam a última noite da Roda, supondo que fosse a derradeira do mundo. Quando, porém, viam o crepúsculo, então, certos de que o mundo ainda não pereceria, erguendo-se para as danças, entregavam-se a jogos — e esse era o primeiro dia da nova Roda.

É curioso que esta língua careça das letras B, G, R, S. O muito frequente Ch, Tl, Ct. O número não excede cinco. E é por isso que, em todo o novo mundo, nos dados com que jogam, não há senão cinco pontos. História das Índias, cap. 196.

On the last day of the Wheel, that is, of the 52nd year, they would break all their earthenware and utensils, extinguish fire and lights, supposing that the end of the world was imminent at the close of one of these Wheels. They also say that before the year of Christ 694, when the count they use began, four Suns perished, and that this is the fifth, which we see today. They kept vigil on the last night of the Wheel, thinking it would be the last of the world. But when they saw the twilight, then, certain that the world would not yet perish, rising up for dances, they gave themselves over to games — and this was the first day of the new Wheel.

It is remarkable that this language lacks the letters B, G, R, S. Very frequent are Ch, Tl, Ct. Their number does not exceed five. And for that reason, throughout the new world, on the dice with which they play, they have no more than five dots. History of the Indies, chap. 196.
The week of the second year falls in the fifth month. Add 4 to the first week of the first year and you will have the second week; and so always by increments of 4. In the year of Christ 1551, they had completed 1858 years, as Francisco López de Gómara attests. Therefore their first year began in the year 694.
